Mt Skukum Pyrite Nodule Mineral Rock Specimen 3.75" weighs 1076.3 grams made of thousands of pyrite crystals grown into a large softball size mass that has an oxidized lumpy appearance. This specimen was recovered on the south facing slope of Mt Skukum during the 1997 field geology season while working for Omni Resources in the Wheaton Gold Camp located in the Southern Yukon due north of the famous Chilkoot Pass. Essentially this mineral specimen was embedded in the metamorphic fused conglomerate of rocks that remain from the core throat of what was once an active Eocene volcano. It is an interesting study and conversation piece worth collecting if you are into volcanic rocks. It is in as found condition and is competent even though it has some natural fissures in the matrix.
